CONT

The use of the futures contracts locks in a 98 cent copper price ... It removes the possibility of windfall profits as the copper price declines. On balance, if you become convinced that the price will continue down, it is much easier to liquidate a futures position than to cancel a cash contract. If you later saw prices stabilizing you could reinstitute your hedges at the now lower price.

CONT
